Privacy Policy for Nestory
Summary
Nestory is an offline-first personal belongings tracker. Everything you put into the app — items, photos, notes, places, people, and status history — stays on your device. Nestory does not create an account for you, does not upload your data to any server, does not show advertising, and does not include any third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs.
If you uninstall the app, your data is deleted with it.
1. Information we collect
Nestory does not collect any personal information about you. The app has no signup, no login, and no user account.
The following data is created and stored locally on your device only:
- Items you add (name, category, tags, notes, purchase price, purchase date, status).
- Photos you attach to items — stored as files inside the app's private storage area.
- Places and people you create to describe where items are or who has them.
- App preferences such as your theme (light/dark/system) and language.
None of this data is transmitted off your device by Nestory.
2. Information we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any account credentials.
- We do not collect device identifiers, advertising IDs, IP addresses, or location.
- We do not use analytics, crash-reporting, or telemetry SDKs.
- We do not use advertising networks or show third-party ads.
- We do not track your usage of the app.
3. Permissions we request
Nestory only requests permissions strictly needed for its features:
- Camera — to take photos of your items. Photos are stored locally on your device.
- Photos / Media library — to attach existing photos to items. Selected images are copied into the app's private storage.
- Storage — to save the local database and item photos on your device.
You can revoke any of these permissions at any time from your device's system settings. Revoking a permission may disable the corresponding feature (for example, you will not be able to add new photos) but will not affect data already stored.
Nestory does not request permissions for contacts, location, microphone, SMS, calls, or background activity.
4. How your data is stored
- Your data is stored in a local SQLite database and a folder of image files within Nestory's private application storage on your device.
- This storage is sandboxed by the operating system (Android / iOS) and is not accessible to other apps.
- Nestory does not encrypt this data beyond the protections provided by the operating system itself. If your device is unlocked, someone with physical access to it may be able to view your inventory through the app.
5. Sharing your data
Nestory does not share your data with anyone. Because the app does not transmit your data off the device, there is nothing for us — or any third party — to share.
If a future version of Nestory adds an optional cloud-sync or marketplace feature, it will be opt-in, clearly labelled, and this policy will be updated before that feature is released.
6. Children's privacy
Nestory does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children. The app has no account system and does not transmit data, so no personal information is gathered from users of any age.
7. Data retention and deletion
Your data is retained on your device for as long as the app is installed. To delete your data:
- Delete individual items from within the app, or
- Uninstall Nestory — this removes the local database and all photos stored by the app.
Because we never receive your data, there is no server-side copy for us to delete.
8. Security
We rely on the security controls provided by your device's operating system to protect Nestory's private storage area. We recommend using a device passcode, biometric lock, and keeping your operating system up to date.
9. Third-party services
Nestory does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or backend services. The app is built with open-source libraries (Flutter, Drift/SQLite, Riverpod, and similar) that run entirely on your device and do not phone home.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this privacy policy — for example, when introducing optional cloud sync — we will update the "Effective date" at the top and publish the new version alongside the app. Material changes will be highlighted in the app's release notes.
11. Contact
